The story of one of the most wanted criminals comes to the screen in a Netflix production titled The capturewhich will premiere in the coming weeks.

The streaming platform published the first images of the film The capture on his Instagram account. The Mexican production will show a version of how organized crime is experienced from police agencies, this time, around the arrest of the drug trafficker Joaquín Loera, alias “El Chapo” Guzmán.

Unlike other productions, this film will not tell the story from the perspective of the capo, but from that of the federal police who participated in his arrest.

The story is based on a real event that occurred on January 8, 2016 and follows two police officers, Arturo Carmona and Héctor Rosales, who face situations that will test their professional ethics.

The plot focuses on the moment when the police carry out a night patrol and stop a vehicle in Los Mochis, Sinaloa. Upon inspection, they realize that it has been reported stolen and that The driver is one of the most well-known criminals in the world: Joaquín Loera, alias “El Chapo” Guzmán.

Both officers must face a tempting offer: release the capo in exchange for a million-dollar amount of money or hand him over to the authorities. This situation will corner them and force them to decide between righteousness and corruption.

Currently, “El Chapo” Guzmán is serving a sentence in the United States and, despite requesting his extradition to Mexico, he has not been able to obtain it.

At the moment, there are not many details about the cast that will bring the characters to life, but there are two confirmed names: Alfonso Herrera and Noé Hernández, who will play the two police officers who are the protagonists of the production.

“Two police officers. An impossible decision. Alfonso Herrera and Noé Hernández star in ‘The Capture’, directed by Chava Cartas, director of ‘Contraataque’. This summer, only on Netflix,” the Instagram post reads.

Other names, such as Juan Pablo Cruz, Héctor Kotsifakis and Alendra Vázquez de León, would also be part of the cast.
