An anti-drug operation allowed the capture of an alleged drug trafficker required by United States justice, in Malacatán, San Marcos, the National Civil Police (PNC) and the Public Ministry (MP) reported this Tuesday, May 5.

The arrest was carried out by agents from the General Subdirectorate of Anti-Narcotics Information Analysis (SGAIA), who located Manuel “V”, also known as “Nacho”, who has an arrest warrant for extradition purposes.

According to authorities, “Nacho” is wanted by the Eastern District of Texas, in the United States, for crimes related to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine.

According to investigations, the captured man would have been part of an organization dedicated to international drug trafficking, which operated in South, Central and North America, with the aim of transporting large shipments of cocaine to the United States.

The investigations indicate that the requested person was part of said criminal structure from approximately 2011 until, at least, April 2025. During that period, he would have participated in the transportation, coordination and administration of activities linked to drug trafficking in Guatemala and other countries in the region.

The MP coordinated the arrest together with the PNC, as part of the legal procedures for his eventual transfer to the United States.

The authorities indicated that, in 2025, there will be 24 people captured for extradition purposes, most of them linked to crimes related to drug trafficking.

It was reported that the capture is part of international cooperation actions between Guatemala and the United States to combat transnational criminal structures dedicated to drug trafficking.
