The health authorities of Honduras have confirmed four cases of measles, all imported, and they rule out transmission of the disease within the country, which has not reported official infections since 1997.

One of the cases, according to Honduran authorities, corresponds to a 27-year-old woman, originally from El Progreso, Yoro. She would have traveled to Guatemala the week before the first symptoms appeared.

The woman would have experienced fever, cough, loss of appetite, vomiting, headache, runny nose, and body rashas confirmed by the Ministry of Health (Sesal) in a statement.

Health personnel indicated that the cases identified remain under surveillancewhile they continue field investigations and prevention actions in the country.

He also urged the population to complete the triple vaccination schedule against measles, rubella and mumps.

According to the most recent statistics from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), on the American continent 20,521 cases and 25 deaths have been confirmed in 16 countries and one territory between epidemiological weeks 1 and 20 of 2026, four times more than in the same period of 2025.

The most affected countries are Mexico, which has confirmed 10,920 cases and 13 deaths so far in 2026, and Guatemala, with 6,209 cases and 12 deaths.

Other countries have identified cases associated with outbreaks or imports, including Bolivia, Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama and Uruguayindicated the PAHO.
