It was her story after the divorce process, her role as a mother and her professional career that made director Alice Winocour approach the actress to play her. Variety highlights that, although Jolie has not been diagnosed with cancer, she does know about this disease due to her mother and grandmother’s history.

It was during the interview granted to Variety that Jolie shared part of her private life and explained what it was like to go through the divorce and how some decisions in her professional career had to change.

In the interview, she highlighted that, before separating from Brad Pitt, she had decided to pause acting to focus on a new facet: film direction, as well as dedicate more time to her humanitarian work.

However, the divorce decision changed those plans, as he highlighted that acting allowed him to spend more time at home, earn income and avoid spending long periods away.

“I only accepted short jobs, close to home or where I could take my children,” were part of Angelina Jolie’s statements.

The Oscar winner shared that, without a doubt, the divorce changed part of her career, but also its essence. Jolie stressed that in this new stage of her life she is recovering her fighting spirit.

“I was lost for a while. I got a little discouraged, but it’s coming back largely thanks to my children,” she said, noting that they are now of age and that they encourage her to try different things and move forward.

As she explained, part of the process she experienced in 2016 led her to alter her plans to be with her children Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne; these last two, 17 years old.

“My children are almost 18 years old, so now they want to see me travel the world; they want me to go out and do things,” he highlighted. “They still love me, which says a lot,” he highlighted about the relationship he maintains with his six children.
